Understanding SMS Consent

Here’s how we handle consent for sending text messages. When we add a customer, the system sends them an email. In that email, they need to click “Yes” to confirm that they agree to receive text messages from us. Once they do, we can send them updates, like when their order is ready. On the screen, you’ll see the flow step by step: First, after we add the customer and update their phone number, there’s an option to send an SMS consent request. That triggers the email. Next, the screen shows that the SMS consent request has been sent to the customer’s email. The customer then receives the email, which clearly states: “I authorize Big Apple Art Gallery and Framing Inc. to send me text messages.” They click the button to confirm. After they confirm, they’re taken to a page that says their SMS consent has been confirmed. Back in our system, the customer record now shows the date and time of the consent, along with a checkmark confirming it. At this point, the customer is cleared for text updates. If their phone number is changed later, the system will require new consent before we’re able to send any more text messages.
